Pacifica Graduate Institute's M.A. in Counseling Psychology offers students a strong grounding in the theories and historical foundations of counseling and depth psychology, as well as comprehensive training in clinical skills. Interdisciplinary courses in literature, mythology, religion, and culture deepen students' ability to hear collective archetypal and cultural themes as they are expressed in individual lives. Research studies prepare students to explore and contribute to the tradition of scholarship within depth psychology through their Master’s thesis.

Students in the M.A. Counseling Psychology Program are required to pursue two years of coursework in each of the three following areas:

• Humanities and Depth Traditions
• Theory/Praxis
• Marriage, Family and Child Counseling

 
 

Wendy Davee, M.A.
Chair, M.A. Program in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Depth Counseling

Wendy Davee is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked in non-profit, human service and governmental settings. She has been a core faculty member at Pacifica Graduate Institute since 2000, first serving as Clinical Coordinator in the Counseling Psychology Program and more recently as Chair of the program. She has supervised MFT trainees and interns and has a special interest in working with children. She is particularly interested in the power of symbolic play and ritual in the therapeutic relationship.
