September 1, 2009 We extend to you a warm welcome to Pacifica’s Counseling Psychology Program. I am confident you will find that the dedication of the faculty and staff supports your wish to contribute to meaningful change in the world. The Counseling Psychology program’s faculty members are licensed clinicians including Hakomi psychotherapists, Gestalt psychotherapists, Jungian analysts, and faculty trained in EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Somatic Experiencing. This year we are honored that Marion Woodman, pioneer in body/soul work in the Jungian tradition, and James Hillman, founding scholar in the archetypal psychology movement, will teach in your program. In addition, Robert Bosnak will teach Embodied Intelligence in Dreaming, Memory, and Creative Imagination through Pacifica’s Public Programs on selected Thursday evenings and I will teach a section of Dream Tending with emphasis on psyche/soma to all students in the Counseling Psychology Program. In addition, this year Pacifica will offer The Imagination and Medicine II: The Body in Depth Psychology: Healing in an age of Neuroscience. Material from this public program will be made available to students and infuse particular aspects of your curriculum. This blend of depth and somatic orientations supports graduate level education that is both transformational and practical and integrates the most essential in our tradition with the most emergent in the field of Counseling Psychology. I look forward to seeing you at Orientation and being with you as you take this step on your path to ‘tend the soul of the world.’ Sincerely, Stephen Aizenstat Founding President, Pacifica Graduate Institute |
