This class explores emerging web-based tools for collaborative teaching and learning. These may include weblogs, wikis, presentation software, and learning management systems. Emphasis is on the creative use of metaphor, mythology, and digital storytelling techniques within these environments.

Personal Styles of Learning
HM 503........ 2 Units

Equity, fairness, and diversity are touchstones we encourage all learners to know, value, and respect within themselves and in relation to others in community settings. Methods for establishing caring, supportive, inclusive, challenging, democratic, and safe learning communities encourage individuals to take intellectual, social, and emotional risks as they work both independently and collaboratively. Students become proficient at using the Myers-Briggs Ype Indicator to create supportive environments, attitudes, and actions for learning.

Self-Assessment of Archetypal Patterns
HM 504........ 2 Units

Students become familiar with a range of assessments and techniques designed to help capture and sustain interest in he learning process. Assessment extends to social interactions between students and mentors, individual and group progress, and the archetypes that inform these relationships. This introduction to a range of formal and informal assessment strategies helps to shape educational decisions, monitor progress, encourage self-assessment, and gather information about cultural-based archetypal patterns.

Teacher as Learner
HM 602........ 2 Units

In this course, self-reflection is designed to strengthen both teaching and learning, in order to encourage multiple perspectives, self-examination, and adaptation to new areas of study. Additional focus includes the reciprocal nature of education, including the benefits of learning as an act of imagination and the contributions educators and learners can make in professional worlds.

Educational Resources & Collaboration
HM 603........ 2 Units

Collaboration and the sharing of resources, facilitate a soulful learning experience for educators and learner alike. This course emphasizes the involvement of students in creating and selecting rich, varied instructional resources, as well as an engaging other community members to further enrich educational opportunities. The life-long learner will also benefit from the research into venues that provide quality materials to enhance the act of learning.

The Nature of Education: A Holistic Approach
HM 604........ 2 Units

The value of developing a lifelong learning process, with special attention to styles of critical inquiry and analysis, negotiation, and the construction of meaning across the curriculum as well as in one's own patterns of knowing, are explored. Particular attention is given to the human tendency to construct meaning out of experience.

Portfolio Development I
HM 505........ 2 Units

Rooted in the motifs and imaginings of a mythological education, Portfolio Development I allows students to begin the process of collecting data to create their professional portfolios. Portfolios have long been used to demonstrate growth and achievement in a variety of educational, professional, and creative contexts. This mode of expression is also ideal for the life-long learner who wishes to assess personal learning styles and projects.

Portfolio Development II
HM 605........ 2 Units

Working closely with a faculty advisor, students evaluate their selections, adaptations, and applications of mythic themes in personal and professional venues. They demonstrate effective methods and materials specific to their personal or professional goals in order to create and assemble a portfolio. The framework for this portfolio is individualized to the student's particular interests.
