Pacifica Graduate Institute's Ph.D. in Depth Psychology With Emphasis in Psychotherapy is a specialized training program based on applied clinical skills, innovative approaches to research, and depth psychological teachings. The goal is to develop and articulate the best practices and contemporary applications of psychotherapy as informed by the traditions of Depth Psychology.

The curriculum of this doctoral degree in Depth Psychology has been designed for students who have already had sufficient coursework for licensing at the master's level. Students and faculty engage in theoretical and practical studies designed to support deeper learning in the art of psychotherapy, and to encourage ongoing research into the role that Depth Psychotherapy plays in enriching work with patients and their communities.

The Ph.D. in Depth Psychology with Emphasis in Psychotherapy includes three years of coursework and the completion of an original dissertation. Course work is offered in the following three areas:

• Theory and Traditions of Depth Psychotherapy
• Psychotherapy Informed by the Humanities
   and Interdisciplinary Studies
• Integrated Praxis: Research and Casework

 

 
 

Patricia Katsky , Ph.D.
Chair, Ph.D. Program in Depth Psychology with Emphasis in Psychotherapy

Pat Katsky has served on the faculty at Pacifica since 2000. Dr. Katsky has been a Jungian analyst for 15 years and a psychotherapist in private practice for 25 years. She is the former president of the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, and has served for many years on the Review and Certifying Boards of the Los Angeles and San Francisco Jung Institutes. She co-founded and continues to serve as a Board member for a non-profit counseling center in the Lost Angeles area.
