Friday, August 22: Arrive in Ascona
We arrive in Ascona, a Mediterranean world in an Alpine setting, in Italian-speaking Switzerland. You will have previously booked a room in the hotel of your choice along the shore of Lake Maggiore, near the legendary Eranos.
In order to offer accommodations fitting different budgets, we have reserved a limited number of single and double rooms for Psyche in the World participants at four hotels on the lake in Ascona. Rates ragne from Sfr.115 to Sfr.404 per person, per night. (1 Sfr. Is approximately equal to 1 US Dollar) Rates include breakfast, taxes, and service charges.
We hope that before or after the weekend symposium you will allow time to explore Ascona, which has long been a favorite with artists and has become an important venue for cultural events. Blessed with an exceptional climate and very close to the Swiss/Italian border, Ascona is on the shore by a long, narrow lake called Lago Maggiore. Its shores are dotted with sandy beaches, many places to swim, and great green meadows
Saturday, August 23 at Monte Veritá
9:00am to 5:30pm:
The Monte Veritá Conference Center is five or ten minutes by taxi or car from the center of Ascona, where the hotels are located. This is where the weekend symposium will be held. The format for each day will include two morning and two afternoon lectures by key members of Pacifica’s faculty and community. Each lecture is an hour-and-a-quarter in length, including discussion.
Our day will include mid-morning and afternoon refreshments, and a one-and-a-half hour lunch break. We encourage you to use some of this free time to take in the natural beauty of the area. The Monte Verità Center lies in the forest and presents a beautiful panorama of the Alps and Lago Maggiore.
At the end of the day, we will return to Ascona with time to enjoy the sunset, a drink with friends, and a delicious meal at one of the towns quaint restaurants.
Sunday, August 24 at Monte Veritá
