Pacifica at Eranos

Sunday, August 24: Arrive in Ascona
We will arrive in Ascona in southern Switzerland where you will have previously booked a room in a hotel of your choice. Ascona is a colorful fishing village near the legendary Eranos.
In order to offer accommodations fitting different budgets, we have reserved single and double rooms at four hotels which are all near one another. Rates range from 115 Swiss Francs to 404 Swiss Francs per person, per night. (1 Sfr. Is approximately equal to 1 US Dollar) Rates include breakfast, taxes, and service charges.
We hope you will allow time to explore Ascona, which has long been a favorite with artists and has become an important venue for cultural events. Blessed with an exceptional climate and very close to the Swiss/Italian border, Ascona is on the shore by a long, narrow lake called Lago Maggiore. Its shores are dotted with sandy beaches, many places to swim, and great green meadows.
Monday, August 25 thru Friday, August 29:
9:30am to 5:30pm at Eranos
At 8:55 each moring we will depart for the 15-minute journey to Eranos from the boat dock just outside our hotels. Once there, we will walk up ancient steps, through gardens, and over terraces to Casa Eranos where Writing as Ritual of Remembrance will take place. We recommend leaving fashion shoes in Ascona and wearing walking shoes to Eranos, as the terrain is uneven and may be unreliable in places.
Each day at Eranos will include a morning and afternoon lecture by Pacifica faculty member, author, and poet, Dennis Patrick Slattery or Jungian analyst, Marion Woodman. After the lectures there will be ample time for writing exercises and personal reflection…here in this historical place where so many of our depth psychological predecessors worked on their manuscripts.
During our daily visit to Eranos, there will also be opportunities to explore the beauty of this special place. There will be mid-morning and afternoon refreshments, and a daily two-hour lunch break. If you like, you can put your feet in the lake, take in the natural beauty, or sit in casual conversation at the infamous round table where Jung, Eliade, Kerényi, Neumann, and so many others established their network of ideas and the relationships between their different fields.
At the end of the day, we’ll return to Ascona by boat. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the sunset, a drink with friends, and a delicious meal at one of the towns many quaint restaurants.
Saturday, August 30
