Chair, M.A. Program in Humanities with Emphasis in Mythology and Depth Psychology
Mikita Brottman has a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from Oxford University, and has taught in various universities in Europe and the U.S. Her main area of teaching and research is the pathological impulse in contemporary culture; she has authored and edited a number of books on this subject, including, most recently, The Solitary Vice (Counterpoint, 2008). She writes regularly for a number of publications, and has also worked as a psychoanalyst in private practice.
"My research and writing both emerge from my lifetime fascination with the human condition and its cultural expression. The Humanities program at Pacifica allows students to explore and enhance this narrative legacy through the study of myth, legend, and literature, and to investigate the connections between story and the sacred." - Mikita Brottman
