Images are the privileged mode of access to knowledge of soul.
Nothing is more primary.

—James Hillman

Trust in the imaginal and trust in soul go hand in hand.
—James Hillman

Active Imagination invites us to tend to soul. It allows us to bridge the inner world of imagination and dream with the outer world of reality, and be profoundly nourished by both. Workshop participants will have the valued opportunity to experience and practice C.G. Jung’s method of active imagination. We will follow Jung’s instructions in order to safely encounter the living images and figures who visit in imagination, dream, moods, emotions, and complexes. In the practice of active imagination, we will tend to psyche’s living images, watch their activity, listen to their voices and perspectives, notice what matchless intelligence they possess, and discover what revelations they offer. We will offer our own observations and authentic voice as well. Jung’s discourse on active imagination will be explored as well as pertinent recommendations from Barbara Hannah, Robert Johnson, James Hillman, and Marie Louise von Franz, who herself offers that “active imagination is thus the most powerful tool in Jungian Psychology for achieving wholeness.” The workshop will allow participants to experience and explore active imagination as an independent practice that has ancient roots and is known to cultivate psychological health and inner vision. The workshop will be limited to 30 participants.

Nancy Galindo, Ph.D., holds an M.S. in Educational Psychology and a doctorate in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
