This special program has been designed to give prospective students a comprehensive introduction and orientation to the unique educational features of the school. The program begins promptly at 8:30 am and runs until 6:00 pm.

 

Pacifica’s One-Day Introduction provides an excellent opportunity to:

  • Experience Pacifica’s unique interdisciplinary curriculum through characteristic classroom presentations by core faculty and special guest faculty in-residence
  • Learn more about Pacifica’s six graduate degree programs through faculty-led, program-specific information meetings
  • Explore the grounds and resources of Pacifica’s two campuses—the Lambert Road Campus and the Ladera Lane Campus
  • Visit the Joseph Campbell Archives and Library, Pacifica’s Graduate Research Library and the Pacifica Bookstore
  • Learn more about admissions procedures and financial aid
  • Meet Pacifica alumni, faculty, and other prospective students
  • Enjoy a continental breakfast and buffet lunch


Applying to Pacifica

Applications for Fall 2010 enrollment can be submitted after November 1, 2009. Notification letters will be mailed on March 31, 2010 and May 31, 2010. We invite and encourage you to consider these dates as you prepare your application for the Admissions Committee. After May 31, we may continue to accept applications on a space-available basis. Please be sure to contact the Admissions Office to discuss the admissions process.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Locations and Accommodations

March 29, May 8, and June 19 at Pacifica’s Ladera Lane Campus
These Introductions will be held at Pacifica’s Ladera Lane Campus in Santa Barbara. Located on 35 acres in the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the residential retreat center is located approximately 10 minutes from the Lambert Road Campus and has lodging, dining facilitites, and parking on site. Participants of these Introductions will have an opportunity to visit Pacifica’s Lambert Road Campus. A limited number of rooms are available for participants of the Ladera Lane Introductions only at special rates: $82.50 per night single occupancy, $115 per night couple occupancy, and $125 per night double occupancy plus 10% occupancy tax. Accommodations are simple, dormitory-style rooms with shared bath and shower. Single (twin or double bed), double (two twin beds), and couple (one double bed) rooms are available. Reservations for rooms must be made through Pacifica’s Public Program’s office.

July 17 at Pacifica’s Lambert Road Campus
This Introduction will be held at Pacifica’s Lambert Road Campus. The campus is located approximately 10 miles south of downtown Santa Barbara. Please note that all visitors to Pacifica’s Lambert Road Campus must park at the nearby Best Western Carpinteria Inn and ride Pacifica’s complimentary shuttle to and from campus. Participants of these Introductions will have an opportunity to visit Pacifica’s Ladera Lane Campus. To facilitate your stay, Pacifica has reserved a block of rooms at the Best Western Carpinteria Inn. Special rates are $115 per night plus tax for July 16-17 only. To make a reservation, call the Best Western at 805.684.0473 and identify yourself as a participant in a Pacifica Public Program.

Travel
Major airlines provide service into the Los Angeles International Airport located 90 miles south of Santa Barbara and into the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport, approximately 18 miles from the Campus. Information on ground transportation will be included with your confirmation letter.

Registration and Cancellation
Space is limited in all events. Register early!
To register, please complete the form and return it to Pacifica Graduate Institute, Public Programs, 249 Lambert Road, Carpinteria, CA 93013; fax to 805.565.5796; e-mail to publicprograms@pacifica.edu; call 805.969.3626, ext. 103, or register online at www.pacifica.edu. Please include your email address as an email confirmation letter will be sent within 5 days of receipt of your registration.

Cancellations for the program will be accepted until 30 days before the event with a refund less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be made after this time. Cancellations for accommodations are accepted up to 5 days before the event with full refund. Cancellations made 1-4 days before the event will receive a 50% refund. There will be no refund for cancellation on the day of the event.

To obtain a refund on your registration fee, send a written cancellation request postmarked no later than thirty days before the event. Tuition less a $25 processing fee will be refunded. No exceptions will be made. For refund on accommodations at the Ladera Lane Campus, cancellation with full refund will be accepted up to 5 days before the event. Cancellations made 1-4 days before the event will receive a 50% refund. There will be no refund for cancellation on the day of the event.

Continuing Education
2 Continuing Education Hours are available for RNs through the California Board of Registered Nurses (provider #CEP 7177). The hours are also applicable to MFTs and LCSWs (provider #PCE 2278) as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Pacifica Graduate Institute is recognized by the NBCC (provider #5436) to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. We adhere to NBCC continuing education guidelines.
