Admissions News

"The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers." --Thich Nhat Hanh

Dear Friend -- Alumna/Alumnus of Depth Psychology,

It is my great pleasure to have this opportunity to “reacquaint with you” and to appreciate our friendship through these many years.  Of course, I also want to express my deep gratitude for the way you always have welcomed me each time I saw you and for each conversation and visit while you were enrolled for classes at either the Lambert or Ladera Lane campuses.  Thank you.

Today, I want to share a collection of news:  For the second summer since my retirement at the end of 2006 I have been invited back to Pacifica to assist with the busy enrollment season here in the Admissions Office. This year, I am focused on MA/Ph.D. Depth Psychology Program!  I trust each of you recalls my passion and compassion to this program and how excited I was as you enrolled and then graduated.  Always tenacious, with robust dialogue, penetrating interest, and an abiding call to the work of healing the “soul of the world” kept our conversations touching, timely, and very real.  Recently Dr. Aizenstat spoke to a group of prospective students and he expressed the “desperate need for depth psychologists to tend the healing of the soul of the world.”  That same resonance led you to pursue a dream, take a “leap of faith,” and engage in all the possibilities of this challenging goal.

I also hope you will take a moment to check out the web link that has just been newly-developed for the doctoral program in Depth Psychology.  Please check the new video and link at:  http://www.pacifica.edu/depth_program.aspx.   Many of you participated in its creation by returning your alumni questionnaire to Dr. Jennifer Selig, most recent former chair of the program, who was one of the dynamic and extremely enthusiastic team who worked tirelessly to update this web link.  With your input, your alumni stories, your involvement in the world, individually and collectively, you helped develop today’s inspirational and innovative program.  Whether you were in the pioneer cohort led by Dr. Dianne Skafte, or walked through the doors under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Mary Watkins, Dr. David Bona, or Dr. Joe Coppin who carefully managed the vision and intention for the program along the way, this web link portrays the rich texture, beauty, and inspiration of the landscape – Depth Psychology.

This Fall, the Depth Psychology Program enters its 14th year.  Please let me speak for everyone at Pacifica and say “thank you very much.”

With my heartfelt gratitude and friendship,
