This weekend we pay tribute to Marion Woodman. Her work has opened our bodies and minds to soul. We have discovered that from deep within lives a radiance known to poets, artists, storytellers, and healers. Marion’s life and work is a gesture of love. She brings to us a knowledge gleaned from keen insight, and an inspiration discovered from embodied experience. Hers is a passion rooted in deep conviction. She believes in the integrity of the living psyche. We, her students, colleagues, and friends take this weekend to honor Marion. Through, lecture, story, ritual, movement, and song we gather to say, “thank-you.” We congregate to celebrate how our lives have been forever changed by the work and the gifts that Marion has offered through the years. The fire burns bright, the flower is in full bloom, and we are the better for it. In community, we come together, in deep feeling, in gratitude, and in the sacred mystery of spirit to rejoice and commemorate the blessing that is Marion Woodman.
Conference Program
Honoring Marion Woodman, the tribute will be held at one of her favorite hotels, the Hotel Mar Monte (formerly the Radisson Hotel). At the edge of the Pacific Ocean, overlooking the Channel Islands, and in full view of the Santa Ynez Mountains, Hotel Mar Monte is one of Santa Barbara’s historic Spanish hotels.
Immediately preceding the conference on Friday, February 17, we are offering three pre-conference workshops: Moving Imagination: The Living Body in Analysis with Joan Chodorow, The New Neuroscience of Creativity, Brain Growth, and Healing in Art and Psychotherapy with Ernest Rossi, and The Dance of Body and Soul: An Introduction to the Work of BodySoul Rhythms with Virginia Holmquist, Nina Mahaffey, Tina Stromsted, and Meg Wilbur.
Check-in for the pre-conference workshops will be held from 9:00–10:00 am on Friday morning, and 12:30-2:00 for the afternoon workshop. Registration and check-in for the conference will be held on Friday evening from 6:00–7:30 pm preceding the keynote presentation at 7:30 pm. The conference will end on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
In addition to the conference program, there will be ample opportunity for socializing, exchanging ideas, and quiet walks on the beach. Continental breakfast and lunch are included for your convenience and to provide an opportunity for ongoing dialogue and exchange.
