The New Neuroscience of Creativity, Brain Growth, and Healing in Art and Psychotherapy
Ernest Rossi
This is an introductory presentation on how creative activity may turn on the activity-dependent gene expression/protein synthesis cycle to construct and reconstruct the neural networks of our mind-brain. We will explore innovative approaches to facilitating the 4-stage creative process in Art, Science, and Psychotherapy. This perspective suggests that numinous experiences in art, science, spiritual practice, and psychotherapy can turn on gene expression to facilitate brain plasticity and mind-body healing. This view will be experienced during an introductory group process, individual demonstrations with volunteers, and a small group practicum utilizing Rossi’s innovative approach to therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy.
