Rick Alexander

Rick Alexander is a scholar-practitioner whose research and teaching explore the intersections of mythology, depth psychology, and psychedelic spirituality. His academic work focuses on archetypal and imaginal approaches to spiritual care, the intersection of depth psychology and the Yogic traditions, as well as religious-based trauma, examining how psychological, spiritual, and contemplative frameworks can illuminate processes of transformation and the cultivation of meaning. Rick has a master’s degree in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Pacifica Graduate Institute. He works as a spiritual director and depth psychological counselor in private practice. His interdisciplinary approach integrates mythology, contemplative traditions, meditation, and embodied spiritual practices. He has lectured at South by Southwest, the Mythologium conference, the United States Air Force, and Bell Canada, and has facilitated workshops and retreats around the world. He is the author of Ambitious Heroes and Heartache, and is the lead writer for The Dark Night of Our Soul, a documentary exploring post-traumatic growth.
