With a lifelong career as an international concert dance artist (including being the solo dancer in Stevie Wonder’s music video, “Ribbon in the Sky,” and dancer-choreographer for cinematographer Julie Dash’s award-winning film short, “Four Women”), my work is grounded in Zen and somatic practice. I have served on Dance and Humanities faculties for The College of William and Mary, UMass and the Five Colleges, California State Universities and Community Colleges, and California Institute of the Arts. As a literary artist, my work is published in both scholarly and literary journals. My essay, “Arabesque | an art of connections, a poetics of the swerve” (2025), was published by Coreopsis Journal of Myth & Theater, and is poised for global collaborative and community readings with live music. Envisioned as a “world-making” project, this work centers on the ethos of the Persian arabesque aesthetic: ‘unity’ and ‘interdependency.’
