Matthew Dillon

Matthew Dillon is a historian of religions working at the intersection of depth psychology, Gnostic Studies, reception history, and theory and method. His first monograph, The Kingdom is Within You: The Nag Hammadi Library and Post-Christianity in America, is under contract with University of Virginia Press, while his edited volume, The Varieties of Mystical Experience, will be published by Harvard University Press in 2026. From 2021-26, Matt served as Postdoctoral Scholar and Research Associate in the Transcendence and Transformation Initiative at the Center for World Religions, Harvard Divinity School. While there, he conceived and launched the Archive of Mystical Experiences. Matt is also the host of the Pop Apocalypse podcast. He is currently Adjunct Lecturer at Pacifica Graduate Institute after holding teaching positions at Harvard Divinity School, DePauw University, Rice University, and California Institute of Integral Studies.
