A Message from the Board of Trustees: Presidential Transition

The Board of Trustees announces that effective April 21st, 2025, Pacifica’s Provost, Dr. Colin Marlaire, has been appointed into the role of Interim President/CEO for the remainder of 2024-2025 academic year. Dr. Marlaire has a distinguished career spanning 19 years in higher education and a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative strategies to enhance student experiences, educational delivery, faculty well-being and development, curriculum design, and educational technology. We are confident that the positive relationships and dedication to Pacifica’s people and mission that Dr. Marlaire has demonstrated in his short time here will help ensure continued progress in our operations and institutional direction. We welcome and thank Dr. Marlaire for stepping into this position at this point in Pacifica’s history.

As Dr. Marlaire writes: “It is a profound honor to be entrusted with this responsibility. While acknowledging that there are always areas for me to grow and that my background is not as a scholar in Pacifica’s fields, I believe my two decades in higher education have prepared me to serve with care and clarity. With help from many of you, I have already learned so much since arriving at Pacifica in August. I have come to appreciate the Institute’s rich history, its potential, its challenges, and, most importantly, its enduring mission in depth psychology. Above all, it is the people—its students, faculty, staff, and alumni—who make Pacifica what it is.

In this interim role, I remain focused on what matters most: great teaching and great learning, made possible through a culture that is increasingly positive and collaborative. My commitment is to being transparent, communicative, and dedicated to acting in the best interests of Pacifica, its students, faculty, and staff. I am also committed to Pacifica’s mission, values, and roots in depth psychology, as we grow and work on uplifting them each day.

With the extraordinary talent and passion across our community, I am confident we will move forward effectively and in alignment with our highest aspirations. Thank you for the opportunity to serve, and for all that our community does to uphold Pacifica’s mission. Together, we will continue to tend soul in and of the world.”

Join the Pacifica Graduate Institute Board of Trustees in welcoming Dr. Marlaire into this role.
