In Conversation: Glen Slater & Leonie Mattison
In Conversation Series
Location:
2280 Lillie Ave
Summerland, CA 93067
Glen Slater, a psychology professor at the Pacifica Graduate Institute, takes the stage to present Jung vs. Borg: Finding the Deeply Human in a Posthuman Age, which examines how the dehumanization of humanity in the hands of our machines has caused a loss of more self-aware and soulful modes of living, and an increase in anxiety and depression. He’ll be joined in conversation by Leonie Mattison, the president and CEO of the Pacifica Institute.
In Jung vs. Borg, Glen argues the industrial disruption of the outer world is being followed by a post-industrial disruption of the inner world, resulting in a different order of existential crisis. He explores the critical precursors of this phenomenon and shows how the crisis will accelerate through the attempt to merge human and machine.
