“The greatest and most important problems in life are all fundamentally insoluble. They can never be solved, but only outgrown.” Carl Jung This quotation by Carl Jung captures the essence of my approach to therapy. If your current struggles were easily resolved, you probably wouldn’t be reading my webpage. And if you are looking for advice or solutions, I’m probably not the right therapist for you. What I do offer is a safe space to explore the nature of your struggles and support your efforts to grow past them. In my thirty years as a psychotherapist, I have been privileged to witness this growth amongst many individuals with unique struggles. My clinical experience includes working with adults and young adults from diverse ethnic and racial communities, many of whom identify with the LGBT community, and many of whom experienced severe trauma in their childhood and adolescence. I am a Certified Therapist in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). When clinically appropriate, I offer this treatment approach to help clients process their most impactful traumatic memories. Through my doctoral studies, I have studied the theories and applications of depth psychology, which focuses on the role the unconscious plays in our lives. My dissertation, Wounding the Healer: Suicide’s Quest for Voice, reviews the phenomenon of suicide and explores the experiences of clinician suicide loss survivors.
