Welcome to the Office of the Provost

Dear members of the Depth Psychology community,

As the Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, I am honored to welcome you to Pacifica Graduate Institute. The Institute has a long-standing tradition of fostering a deep appreciation for the psyche. I am proud to be a part of this vibrant community of Learners, faculty, and staff.

As a Depth Psychology graduate institute, we understand that true learning is more than simply acquiring knowledge. We strive to create an environment where our learners can engage with their inner selves and the world around them meaningfully and transformatively. Our approach is learner-first, and we are committed to supporting our students as they explore their unique paths of discovery. We are a community that values depth of thinking, and we encourage our learners to engage with complex ideas and perspectives. We believe that the psyche is a rich and multifaceted domain, and our curriculum reflects this belief. Our courses are designed to challenge our learners and encourage them to explore the depths of the human psyche.

At Pacifica Graduate Institute, we recognize the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our community. We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and valued regardless of background or identity. We believe a diverse community is essential for fostering creativity, critical thinking, and growth. We are committed to actively promoting these values and creating a learning environment inclusive of all voices and perspectives. We also recognize that this work is ongoing. We are dedicated to continuously learning, growing, and improving our practices to ensure that our community is a safe and inclusive space for all.

At the heart of our community is a commitment to building strong relationships. We understand that learning is not a solitary endeavor, and we are dedicated to fostering a sense of connection and belonging among our learners, faculty, and staff. We believe that a strong community is essential for our learners to thrive, and we are committed to supporting our learners as they navigate their academic journeys.

Together, let us continue to build a vibrant and supportive community that fosters deep thinking, transformative learning, and a commitment to exploring the human psyche.
