Maurice Stevens, Ph.D. brings expertise in critical trauma theory and designing interdisciplinary and engaged research methodologies, participatory leadership models, and community-driven social justice informed research.
Victoria Stevens, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, as well as a classically trained cellist, singer, dancer and actor. She is an adjunct faculty member in the PhD Program in Clinical, Counseling and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara, adjunct faculty at \ Pacifica Graduate Institute in the Clinical Psychology PhD and Depth Integrative Healing Programs, Antioch University Los Angeles in the Trauma Specialization, and the Clinical Psychology Program at Antioch University at Santa Barbara where she co-created and is founding faculty for the Somatic Psychotherapy Certification Program with a focus on Trauma Treatment.
Robert is a Founding Faculty Member at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Los Angeles, and at the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity, New York City. He is the author of World, Affectivity, Trauma: Heidegger and Post-Cartesian Psychoanalysis (Routledge, 2011) and Trauma and Human Existence: Autobiographical, Psychoanalytic, and Philosophical Reflections (Routledge, 2007) as well as numerous other books.
Tina is an analyst and faculty member of the C. G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, and has a private practice in San Francisco. Past co-founder and faculty member of the Authentic Movement Institute, she teaches internationally, and is a founding faculty member of the Women’s Spirituality Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. A long-time core faculty member of the Marion Woodman Foundation, she also teaches in the Specialization in Somatics Studies Doctoral program at Pacifica.
Li Sumpter is a multidisciplinary artist and independent scholar who applies strategies of worldbuilding and mythic design toward building better, more resilient communities of the future. Li’s creative research and collaborative design initiatives engage the art of survival and sustainability through diverse ecologies and immersive stories of change. Li is a cultural producer and eco-arts activist working through MythMedia Studios, the Escape Artist Initiative and various arts and community-based organizations in Philadelphia, PA, and across the country. Li has taught courses on Myth and the Media, Film and Ecology, and Afrofuturism at Haverford College and Moore College of Art and Design.
Dr. Ginger Swanson is a certified medical support hypnotherapist and retreat host, planner, and guide, leading a range of semi-annual retreats on topics that range from memoir writing to dream tending and more. She assists individuals in identifying blocks to creativity and authenticity. Her background also involves supporting organizations in mind mapping their goals and collective visions and doing so with a respect for metaphor and meaning-making. She is an alumna of the Depth Psychology program.
Becca S. Tarnas, Ph.D., is a scholar, artist, and editor of Archai: The Journal of Archetypal Cosmology. She received her doctorate in Philosophy and Religion from the California Institute of Integral Studies, with her dissertation titled The Back of Beyond: The Red Books of C. G. Jung and J. R. R. Tolkien.
C.D. is Adjunct Faculty at Pacifica, teaching Counseling in Substance Use. He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica. Born in England, he originally came to Southern California to teach Fine Art at USC – he holds an MFA degree. C.D. then became a Director/Producer in the entertainment industry before entering the field of psychology. He worked for 20 years at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s Residential Center (a residential program for the treatment of dual-diagnosis patients) where he was Lead Case Manager and Primary Therapist.
Andrew earned his master's in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara and completed a 2-year program in Hakomi Integrative Body Therapy Training. Andrew also has completed three years of training in Interpersonal Neurobiology through Dan Siegel’s Mindsight Institute. Andrew has been leading groups for adults who were sexually molested as children for the last 16 years.
Douglas has a private Jungian based psychotherapy practice in Pasadena and he teaches as adjunct faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, California. He has presented workshops and talks throughout the state of California on LGBTQ issues and on dream therapy, his two areas of specialization.
Paula is Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, certified Sport Psychologist, and works in private practice in California. She is Co-Director of the Performance Psychophysiology Laboratory at CSUN, adjunct faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute and Professor Emeritus at York University’s Departments of Theatre and Graduate Studies (Canada).
Kandice Timmons, Psy.D. is licensed clinical psychologist in private practice and mental health consultant for the Los Angeles Job Corps Center. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Santa Barbara
María Elena Torre is the founding director of The Public Science Project at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York where she is on the doctoral faculties of Critical Social Psychology and Urban Education. A queer mama of a very cool teenager, she has been engaged in critical participatory action research nationally and internationally with communities in neighborhoods, schools, prisons, and community-based organizations for over 25 years. María has written extensively about how decolonizing methodologies, radical inclusion, and a praxis of solidarity can inform a participatory public science that supports movements for transformation and justice.
Jackie is adjunct faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute and Antioch University Santa Barbara, where she previously served as Senior Student Advisor for the Masters in Clinical Psychology Program. Jackie worked in the community mental health field for 20 years in both direct service and program management roles before receiving her master’s degree from Pacifica. She has also served as an academic and thesis editor. Currently, she is in private practice where she provides individual, couples, and group therapy.
Maura Tousignant, L.M.F.T., is a depth-oriented and somatic psychotherapist and teaches as adjunct faculty in the M.A. Counseling Psychology program at Pacifica. She is based in Santa Monica and has a private practice with a focus on complex trauma, anxiety, grief, and relationship issues. She trained in Hakomi mindful somatic psychotherapy and Brainspotting, and her clinical work integrates Jungian, psychodynamic, attachment, mindfulness, and somatic approaches. She attained her master's degree in Counseling Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Clinical Counseling, and Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Alma M. Ouanesisouk Trinidad, PhD, is a macro social worker and scholar activist, born and raised on the island of Molokai, Hawai'i with roots from Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Her work has focused on individual and collective healing through decolonizing, Indigenizing, and elevating the voices and struggles of the people.
Alejandro A. Vallega, Ph.D. is a main figure in the development of aesthetics of liberation and decolonize aesthetic thought. He is editor and founder of the World Philosophies Series published by Indiana University Press, ex-president of the North American Society for Philosophical Hermeneutics, and faculty of the Decolonizing Knowledges Summer School in Barcelona, Spain.
Michelle teaches, Child Psychotherapy, Human Growth and Development, Family Systems and Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Assessment and Treatment. She is a Certified HeartMath Practitioner, C.C.A.T.P-Ca Certified Child & Adolescent Anxiety Treatment Professional and a Soul Collage ® Facilitator. Currently, she maintains a private practice and is a school counselor and is completing her first children’s book.
Judah Viola, PhD is a Community Psychologist and Associate professor of Psychology at National Louis University. His community research and advocacy interests involve neighborhood revitalization, disabilities, healthy food, and community police relations.
Joanna Walling, MA, LMFT, is a licensed psychotherapist and Pacifica alumni working in private practice. She serves as a Research Associate and adjunct faculty in Pacifica’s MA Counseling Psychology department. Practicing since 2012, Joanna received her early training in community mental health as a bilingual therapist serving low-income individuals and families living with severe mental illness. Her current research interests explore theoretical integration, examining the intersection of Jungian-oriented psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and somatic psychotherapy. In her spare time Joanna enjoys working on her photographic portfolio reimagining photography by capturing California abstract landscapes.
