Senator Monique Limón to Present the Pacifica Graduate Institute Community Service Awards at Community Wellness Day

Community Wellness ~ A Journey of the Soul

A day of wellness that is free and open to the community

Pacifica’s Human Resource Team has something special planned for PGI students and staff, as well as the local community! In tandem with Pacifica Extension’s Journey Weekend, the HR Team, led by Norma Mesa, will host Wellness Day on our beautiful Ladera Campus on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023. Norma reveals that “In discussing Pacifica’s vision for Journey week, we realized the mental health component of it needed expanding, so we decided to focus on mental and physical wellness within the Pacifica community, but also within the larger community of Santa Barbara. So we’re inviting everyone to this free event and also giving out service awards to those who serve our community.”

Senator Monique Limón

The day will begin with a welcome from Dr. Leonie Mattison, PGI’s President and CEO, a Land Acknowledgement by Emiliano Campobello, and a presentation on mental wellness. Then California State Senator Monique Limón will give some remarks and present the Pacifica Graduate Institute Community Service Awards. Senator Monique Limón was elected to the Senate in November 2020 and represents the 19th Senate district that includes all of the County of Santa Barbara, as well as over half of the County of Ventura. She will be helping PGI to acknowledge some noteworthy contributors to our community by presenting the Pacifica Graduate Institute Community Service Award to The Unity Shoppe, The Food Bank, and the Summerland Fire Department.

After lunch, participants will enjoy a raffle, a demonstration of CPR by the Summerland Fire Department, as well as presentations on nutrition and yoga. As Stacy Sroka, PGI’s HR Coordinator, says, “We hope for this to be fun and get people together. Everyone could use a positive mental health day.” Karina Monares, PGI recruiter, adds, “I’m hoping people come away happy and peaceful, enjoying the campus and wanting to come back and visit in the near future.”

Wellness Day will be held at Pacifica Graduate Institute’s Ladera Campus, 801 Ladera Lane, Santa Barbara, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please register by September 15, 2023, here.
